Ståle Abrahamsen
(Conductor and saxophonist)

Ståle Abrahamsen was born in 1959 in Hokksund, and grew up in the same place. He began his musical career in “Hokksund jente og guttekorps”.

His first music teacher was Heinz Herresthal, German violinist and woodwind-instrument player. After high school at Hokksund High School, Ståle moved in 1980 to Oslo and started studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He is a graduate can.mag and completed his graduation concert in 1984. In this period Ståle also conducted studies with Daniel Deffayet, who was professor of saxophone at the Paris Conservatory.

In 1983 he got his first job at the Armed Forces Music Band Østlandet. Later he served in the Armed Forces Staff Music Band, until he retired. Through these years he also played with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. He has been a member of Harald Bergersen Saxophone Quartet from 1982-1995.

Ståle has since 2008 been employed as a conductor of the Oslo Police Orchestra.


In the period of 19.09-31.12.2018 we had a project conductor named Jon Terje Svendsen.
